(Dundee, NY) - DelGrosso Brothers Racing driver Adam DelGrosso was seriously injured in a flip that occurred on the frontstretch at Outlaw Speedway in Four Cylinder racing competition.
DelGrosso had started deep in the pack and was quickly picking his way through traffic in the 20-lap affair. Trouble struck in turn four, as another car hit the wall and bounced back into traffic- clipping DelGrosso's right rear tire.
DelGrosso hit the wall, flipped and landed all four tires on the ground. The energy transferred from the landing and up through the chassis and seat left DelGrosso with a compression fracture in his back. He would be cut from the racecar and transported to a local trauma center in Sayre, PA for further evaluation.
To safely remove DelGrosso from the car, the cage needed to be compromised. This has effectively ended the 2017 season for the DBR team.
"We will be back stronger than ever next season," said DelGrosso. "We want to thank the safety team for all of their help and professionalism in caring for my injury. Their diligence is why I will race again next season."
